Frei.Wild Biography

FREI.WILD – Germany ´s no. 1 band of the hour

They are the current phenomen of Germany ´s music scene: coming from South Tirol (German speaking part of Italy) FREI.WILD have established to be one of the most successfull acts of the federal republic. Thereby they didn ´t have the help of big major companies, expensive marketing campaigns or the support of the press.

FREI.WILD have made it way more uncommon. Running their own record label, business and media have critizised them strongly in the beginning – now they are speechless. The musicians´ approach is a very down to earth one, being in the middle of their fans and feeling as one of them. Their songs are honest and non-heroic. FREI.WILD are okay with admitting that they have made mistakes and they directly sing about it. Yes, they have behaved arrogant towards former school mates, yes they did drink too much on some occasions and yes, they are just as human and touchable as we all are. The music fans could feel their straightness and started to love them from the beginning on. And so they helped them to make one of the most successfull newcomers out of FREI.WILD.

Their current DVD „Händemeer“ got no. 1 in German media control charts, their last album „Gegengift“ reached no. 2 two times within half a year. The band got nominated for an „Echo“ award in the category „most successfull newcomer act“ and their last tour reached more than 45.000 people – within four shows only. FREI.WILD got a gold award for the album „Gegengift“ and while the whole German music scene is talking about them now they still stay down to earth. „We know where we come from and that we would not be here without our fans“, singer Philipp Burger says. „This is why we try everything to stay as close as possible with them though this sometimes is not easy the bigger we grow.“

Concerning the upcoming club shows outside of Germany, the band is more than looking forward. „We love the sweaty club atmosphere and we know how close we can be with the audience. That´s what we are.“
