KICKED IN THE TEETH Formed in 2019 in Northwich, Cheshire, Kicked In The Teeth are a four piece band playing both punk and hardcore in equal measure. All the members of the band have played in various other bands over the last couple of decades, coming together out of a mutual desire to play aggressive music in a fun way.
Since their inception the output of the band has been pretty prolific with two full lengths and an assorted selection of singles and EPs all available on Rare Vitamin Records. Despite the two years of forced inactivity the band has also managed to rack up an impressive amount of gigs around the UK, including appearances at both Manchester Punk Festival and Rebellion, they’ve also just booked their first European trip for the spring of 2023. The live performances are full throttle affairs, rapid fire songs and an explosive energy that leaves everything on the stage, harking back to the hardcore performances of the 80s and 90s from which they draw a lot of their influence.
Going forward the band have no intention of slowing down with a new EP in the works and an eye solidly on getting out and playing as many new places as possible in 2023
WYRES - a melodic punk rock four-piece from Manchester with serious Myspace-era vibes.
Formed at the worst time in history to start a band (March 2020), song ideas flew back and forth over WhatsApp during lockdowns - with 24 home-recorded demos emerging within a couple of months. The aim was to capture a sound that's melodic punk at heart while still raw around the edges - in the vein of Hot Water Music, Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Bayside, and Beatsteaks..
WYRES’ members also played in Failsafe - who appeared on The Inbetweeners and the NBA2k11 soundtrack. So it’s no surprise WYRES’ sound captures an element of nostalgia - harking back to the glory days of Myspace and Napster when that band came of age.
In early 2022, WYRES began releasing material recorded over nearly two years of lockdown chaos. The “Northern Lights” EP followed in March 2023, with a debut album slated for 6th October 2023. DAKKA SKANKS Meeting at music college in Brighton, this young band have pulled together so many influences, to take a classic ska rhythm into the 21st century. They blend established Jamaican dance rhythms, sprinkled with indie rock guitar and catchy choruses that give this band a truly fresh and new sound. Clara Byrne's mesmerizing lead vocal cuts through like a wave of emotion, her lyrical content straight from the soul, with serious social issues explored through dramatic delivery. Formed in 2017, this band have come on leagues in a very short space of time. Involved in The Camden Roundhouse Emerging Artists programme, Spider Johnson (Potato 5, Lee Perry, Acid Jazz, Kioko) produced the first album really pulling the loose ends together, giving a professional edge of experience to the band. Dakka Skanks are already picking up several live shows from promoters across Europe, the first Spanish mini-tour of the Madrid area generated more offers including several shows across Germany, France, Belgium and Spain. 2018 brought shows with Madness, Neville Staple, The Skatalites, headline slots across the country and dates across Europe. 2019 bought more extensive European touring, a show with the mighty Toasters and lots more as the year moved forward, and 2020 would have seen Dakka Skanks playing at many more festivals and events in the UK and beyond - Except for that pandemic…….., but undeterred Dakka have carried on releasing the tracks ‘Mr Murder’, ‘Sir Action’ and the current ska anthem in the making ‘Babylon Falling’. After the first lockdown lifted Dakka Skanks had a very busy 2021 starting with headlining the first live event in Brighton and The Dome and into festival season with appearances at Illusive Festival, Tearout Festival, Victorious Festival, Leeds Ska Festival and at Lakefest where they were so well received on the Friday that they were asked to cover a main stage slot the next day sharing the stage with Stereo MC’s, New Model Army and Scouting For Girls, and they finished the year on the main stage at House of Fun with Madness in Minehead. 2022 was another busy year with a European tour supporting Buster Shuffle in June and support slots with The Selecter, Popes of Chillitown and The Dub Pistols as well as a busy festival season culminating at Boomtown. On the release front, the In Control EP was released in December to round off the year. 2023 has seen the band go from strength to strength with many prestigious London shows at established circuit venues like The Underworld, New Cross Inn and Camden Assembly Rooms, supporting the legendary NYC band The Slackers and being booked for the first time at the legendary Rebellion Punk Festival, all the time while writing and performing new songs.
REDEEMON combine a totally unique sound with explosive live performances to create a truly memorable experience. Featuring current and ex members of Beat the Red Light, The Filaments, Smokey Bastard, Tigers of Junction Street and Voodoo Glow Skulls (recording only), the 7 piece have set about creating a sound influenced by a huge variety of genres.
The idea being, write what you enjoy playing. With influences ranging from 90's groove metal, ska, jazz and anything in between, Redeemon don’t really fit into a genre, and that’s how they like it. The challenge of winning over an audience fuels the band. they have played a handful of shows in both the UK and mainland Europe, testing new ideas in the best way - via audience feedback. Recording is almost complete and they will release their debut record ready to tour in 2021. Expect anthemic choruses, break neck double time, syncopated horn lines, polyrhythms, frantic danceable ska, jazz breakdowns, ear splitting beat downs and head banging groove metal. That’s what they like and they hope you like it too.
