THE FILAMENTS are fast and furious no-nonsense punk rock with a ripping brass section from Essex perfectly filling the gap between RANCID's seminal tune packed album "Let's Go!" and CONFLICT's political challenge on "The Ungovernable Force".
Debut album 'Skull and Trombones'(2001) released on New Blood Records. Tours with THE CASUALTIES, DEADLINE, THE BUSINESS, and ROGER MIRET AND THE DISASTERS followed. THE FILAMENTS gained a reputation for their immense live shows in the UK, and even more so on the European mainland where they played a string of festivals and headline shows.
THE FILAMENTS second album 'What's Next…' (2004) on Household Name Records showed a greater depth in the bands song writing; harder UK'82 style punk with a wide range of influences including Dub, Metal and Psychobilly. This eagerly awaited second album saw THE FILAMENTS taking their rightful place alongside modern punk (anti)-heroes THE CASUALTIES, US BOMBS and LEFTOVER CRACK.
After an enormous reaction to their album THE FILAMENTS hit the road touring alongside THE HORRORPOPS and LARS FREDERICKSEN & THE BASTARDS as well as festivals from mainstream Glastonbury to Wasted and Punk'n'Disorderly. But after making huge steps forward the band decided to split following an astonishing final gig at The Astoria in London in July 2005... singer Jon Fawkes decided to move to the US and a vast number of other projects came from the band with Filaments members working on bands like The 241ers, Black Radio, Suicide Bid, Deadline, The King Blues, and many more...
In March 2006 THE FILAMENTS returned for 2 sold out consecutive reunion shows at The Garage in London... and after a string of successful one off shows and performances at summer festivals The Filaments officially reformed in summer 2009.
A third album 'Land of Lions' was self released at a sold out record release show in Camden Underworld on the 9th of March 2013, with a vinyl version released on French label Mass Production.
Since then, The Filaments went on to re establish themselves at home, playing up and down the UK, playing their own headline shows and supporting old friends such as LEFTOVER CRACK, STREETDOGS, CHOKING VICTIM etc… on their London appearances.
They are now currently in the studio recording their fourth full length album, ’Look To The Skies’ with renowned producer Peter Miles and will be hitting the road in Spring 2018 with their best material to date.
